Canada’s economy stalled for a second month in August, missing the 0.2% growth forecast in a Reuters poll. Gains in retail, manufacturing and construction were offset by weaker wholesale trade and public administration. Statistics Canada’s advance estimate points to a 0.1% September contraction and 1.3% annualized third-quarter growth by industry, below the Bank of Canada’s 2% projection. The September and quarterly figures remain preliminary.
